Careers at Biographica

default

Biographica generates the biological assets behind better crops. <br><br>We find the causal, editable gene targets for a crop trait, design the edits that move it, and partner with seed companies to take them to the field.
<br><br>&nbsp;Improving a trait takes years, and most candidate targets never validate. Seed companies rarely lack predictions — what's scarce is a target that holds up in their germplasm, and every failed cycle costs a breeding season that money can't buy back. So we build models that respect the structure of biology rather than proxies for it, with interpretable evidence behind every ranking. Fewer things to validate, a higher hit rate on the ones that matter.<br>

About Us

Cecy studied Biological Sciences at Oxford University and has an MSc in ML from Imperial College London, specialising in graph-based biological modelling. At Biographica, Cecy leads strategy and business development, leveraging prior experience in drug manufacturing and supply chain at GSK as well as market access strategy consulting for gene-editing technologies.

Cecily Price

Dom has Masters degrees in Maths and Stem Cell Biology, as well as a PhD in Computational Genomics, from Cambridge. In his PhD, and later as an ML researcher at Relation Therapeutics, Dom applied graph ML to target discovery. He leads platform development at Biographica, drawing inspiration from drug discovery to design efficient target discovery methods for crop gene-editing.

We’re driven by curiosity and clarity. That means asking real questions, challenging assumptions, and changing our minds when the evidence points somewhere new. We care more about learning than being right, and we share what we find along the way.

Seek the truth

Responsibility here is about showing up and making things happen. We take initiative, follow through, and we care about the outcome.

Own it&nbsp;

When something needs doing, we lean in, start small, and learn quickly. Speed matters, but only when it’s directed. We focus on what’s most important, make deliberate trade-offs, and move forward with clarity and purpose.

Act fast with intention

We work as a team, not a collection of individuals. That means helping each other succeed, communicating with honesty and respect, and making space for different voices to shape where we go, to get to the outcomes - for the company and for individuals.

Show up for each other

We’re here to solve real problems, not just ship features. We stay focused on work that makes a difference - ambitious, practical, and grounded in the impact it can have on the world.

Build what matters

Our Values

<html><head></head><body><div>
<h2>About us</h2>
<div>Biographica is an agricultural biotech company using computational biology and proprietary models to discover the causal genetics behind better crops. We deliver novel, editable trait targets, prioritised to each partner's objective, as a precision input to their breeding and editing programs. This helps seed companies advance the right traits faster and at lower cost.</div>
<div>Our work happens where models meet the bench. Alongside our computational team, we run our own lab at Rothamsted Enterprises. There we design DNA edits, test in vitro whether they change gene expression the way our models predict, and generate the data that makes the next round of predictions better.&nbsp;</div>
<div>We're backed by world-class investors following our £7M funding round, and we partner with BASF | Nunhems, one of the world's leading vegetable seed companies.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<h2>Open applications</h2>
<p>We're always keen to meet people who want to build with us, even when no advertised role fits. We read every application and will get in touch if there's a match now or when a relevant role opens.</p>
<div>
<div>We'd love to hear from you if you:</div>
<ul>
<li>have a background in<strong> agriculture, plant science or the life sciences</strong></li>
<li>have <strong>hands-on experience</strong> in the <strong>lab, greenhouse or field,</strong> especially in plant molecular biology</li>
<li>apply <strong>bioinformatics, ML or data science to biological data</strong></li>
<li>enjoy connecting experiments and models</li>
<li>bring <strong>commercial, operations, product, IP or strategy experience</strong>, ideally in a science-led business</li>
<li>thrive in a small team with real ownership</li>
</ul>
You don't need to tick every box. If you have real depth in one of these and curiosity about the rest, we want to hear from you.</div>
<div>&nbsp;</div>
<h3>Why join us</h3>
<div>
<ul>
<li><strong>High ownership, low bureaucracy: </strong>take end-to-end responsibility in a small team and move quickly from idea to execution.</li>
<li><strong>Shape an early-stage company:</strong> help define how we work, including tools, processes and standards, and influence what we build next.</li>
<li><strong>Cross-functional by default: </strong>work closely with research, lab, product, operations and commercial colleagues. Your work informs decisions rather than sitting on a shelf.</li>
<li><strong>Competitive package:</strong> competitive salary, meaningful equity, private health insurance, and learning and development support.</li>
