Hello. We're Herd — we’re one of the UK's leaders in business analysis, product, and delivery management — the people clients turn to when they need clarity, capability, and confidence, without the layers, theatre, and bureaucracy often associated with traditional consulting. We wanted to create the kind of consultancy we’d genuinely have loved to work with ourselves: experienced specialists who are pragmatic, low-ego, outcome-focused, and enjoyable to work alongside.

Headquartered proudly in Yorkshire, our 80-strong team lives and operates across the UK, supporting many purpose-led organisations, including Central Government departments, world-leading universities, national charities, building societies, and fast-growing private sector organisations.

Everything we do is grounded in four core principles: always leave things better than how we found them; be led by experience and the “Power of the Herd”; focus on outcomes over outputs; and be the consultant you’d have loved to work with.

About Us

Who is this great for?

Our Senior Consultant Product Managers help teams make good decisions in ambiguous conditions. We're looking for experienced product people who can help clients focus on the opportunities that matter most and deliver outcomes that change things for users and the organisation, without hiding behind frameworks or consultancy theatre. You'll bring strong product judgement, commercial awareness, adaptability, and a people-first approach that aligns with Herd's "non-consultancy vibes".

We hire experienced adults and trust people to get the job done. As a growing scale-up, you'll be trusted with responsibility early and expected to get stuck in where needed.

As a Senior Consultant Product Manager you’ll be:

A decision-maker in ambiguity: you assess what's in front of you, work out what matters, and make calls that move things forward, even without all the information.

Outcomes-obsessed: success is what changes for users and the organisation, not what gets shipped or how many story points get closed.

Experienced in government delivery: you've worked in central or local government, or within the NHS, and understand the constraints, stakeholders and pace, and how to get things done anyway.

Pragmatic, not dogmatic: you know frameworks and best practice but aren't constrained by them, and you adapt your approach to the context.

Credible across disciplines: you hold your own with delivery, design, technology, business analysis and leadership, and work across professional silos.

A relationship builder who creates trust with clients and teams, helping build Herd's brand as a trusted partner whilst embracing "non-consultancy vibes".

Commercially aware and able to deliver value for money for clients in line with our company values.

A team player who embraces the "Power of Herd", sharing knowledge and expertise and knowing when to pull others in.

Committed to continuous learning, proactively seeking ways to improve your knowledge, toolkit, and refine your craft.

How we practise product management at Herd (and how we interview)

This role expects you to recognise those modes and move between them.

If you're shortlisted, we'll send you a copy of How we practise product management at Herd so you can check it aligns with your approach. We use it to shape the interview, and will ask you for a real example of how you've worked in each mode:
