Why This Role Exists

pubX is building an agentic advertising marketplace designed to make programmatic advertising more efficient for buyers and publishers.

Over the last five years, we’ve built direct integrations and relationships with publishers. We’re now bringing that supply together with buyer and seller agents that can transact directly with each other – removing layers of the traditional programmatic stack and significantly increasing the proportion of advertiser spend that reaches working media.

This role exists to build coverage across the independent agency market and turn relationships into briefs, campaigns and revenue. We need someone building relationships day to day with the planners, buyers and account teams who actually shape campaigns, and expanding our reach across the independent agency market. We need someone building relationships day to day with the planners, buyers and account teams who actually shape campaigns, and expanding our reach across the independent agency market.

The Role

As Agency Sales Manager, you’ll own working-level relationships across the UK independent agency landscape.

This is a highly active, relationship-led sales role. You’ll spend a significant amount of time in agencies: building depth where our senior team has already opened doors, developing new relationships, generating briefs and turning early interest in pubX into live campaigns.

You’ll also be highly visible in the market. Agency lunches, drinks, events and hospitality are a genuine part of how relationships are built in this market, and they’re a core part of this role.

Build and own day-to-day relationships across the UK independent agency landscape

Develop depth inside agencies where our senior commercial team has already opened doors

Build relationships with planners, buyers and account teams who shape briefs and influence spend

Maintain a high cadence of face-to-face agency meetings and in-market activity

Open new independent agency relationships beyond our existing network

Convert relationships into managed-service briefs, test campaigns and repeat revenue

Take opportunities from initial conversation through to booked campaigns, working closely with the wider commercial team

Entertain agency teams regularly through lunches, drinks, events and other relevant hospitality

Represent pubX at relevant industry events and build our visibility across the indie agency community

Bring agency feedback and market intelligence back into the business as we develop the proposition

What Success Looks Like

In your first three months, you’ll be fully up to speed on the pubX proposition and introduced into the priority agencies where we already have senior relationships. You’ll be independently running a strong weekly cadence of agency meetings and starting to turn those relationships into briefs.

Over the following 6–12 months, we’d expect to see:

Active working-level relationships across our priority independent agencies

A significantly higher volume of agency meetings and market coverage

A repeatable flow of briefs converting into live campaigns

Growing repeat business within agency relationships

pubX increasingly visible and talked about across the independent agency community

Revenue delivered against agreed targets

What We’re Looking For

Current manager-level sales experience selling into UK media agencies

Strong agency relationships, with knowledge of the independent agency landscape or clear evidence that you can open doors within it

A proactive, commercially ambitious approach and motivation to build revenue

Someone who genuinely enjoys the social, relationship-led side of agency sales and wants to be in market consistently

Comfort operating in an early-stage environment where the proposition and supporting infrastructure are still evolving

Solid working knowledge of programmatic advertising

London-based or able to spend significant time in London agencies

What You’ll Get

Strong base salary: dependent on experience, with the range shared upfront in your first conversation

Uncapped quarterly commission

Stock options

A warm market to build from: senior agency relationships are already opening doors and several agencies have committed to testing

Proper onboarding: we’ll train you on the product, platform and story before expecting full autonomy

Real scope to grow: this is deliberately a Manager-level role, with room to develop as pubX and the commercial organisation scale

Something genuinely early: you’ll have the opportunity to help establish how agentic advertising is taken to market rather than joining once the playbook has already been written

Location: London. We have a base in Holborn, but much of your week will be spent out in market with agencies.
