<div>This role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the local community. As a Community Warden, you will work proactively to help create a safer, cleaner, and greener environment for BU students and local residents. You’ll play a key part in building positive relationships between student and non-student communities.</div>
<div>Most of your time will be spent outdoors, patrolling the neighbourhoods surrounding Talbot Campus. Your office base will be within the Student Opportunities Department on Floor 1 of the Student Centre, Talbot Campus.</div>
<div>A core part of the job involves visiting local homes—both student and non-student—to start conversations, offer guidance, and address community concerns such as noise, waste and recycling, and parking.</div>
<div>You may also support community and sustainability events designed to educate and engage students at both Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses.</div>

<div>Job Title: Student Community Warden 2025-2026<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Reporting to: Community Projects Lead<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Place of Work: Student Centre, Talbot Campus &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Hours of Work: Part Time, Term Time, 4 to 6 flexible hours per week on average<br>&nbsp;<br>Hourly Pay: £12.21p per hour (from 01/04/2025) dependent on age&nbsp;</div>
<div><br><strong>Key Tasks</strong></div>
<ul>
<li>Support the improvement of community cohesion in areas such as Winton, Charminster, Wallisdown, Slades Park, and Talbot Village, including joining proactive patrols and engaging with residents.</li>
<li>Complete the required hours of patrol work during each shift.</li>
<li>Identify community issues, report them to the appropriate contacts, and suggest practical solutions.</li>
<li>Assist in welcoming new BU students, including supporting the orientation of international students.</li>
<li>Attend initial and ongoing training, team meetings, and partnership meetings with SUBU, BU, AUB, BCP Council, and Campus Police.</li>
<li>Follow all relevant service policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Recognise your own limitations and seek guidance where needed.</li>
<li>Build and maintain regular contact with residents within your designated patrol area.</li>
<li>Help improve the appearance of the community by reporting issues such as graffiti, fly-posting, dumped rubbish, long-standing skips, or damaged street furniture.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other wardens and take part in community projects at least once per term (e.g., litter picks, recycling roadshows, local drop-in events).</li>
<li>Participate in on-campus campaigns to raise awareness about the role and purpose of Community Wardens.</li>
<li>Provide information to residents about local issues, facilities, and services.</li>
<li>Promote a sense of community within your designated patrol area.</li>
<li>Develop an understanding of other support services available to residents.</li>
<li>Provide students with useful information about their rights and responsibilities as tenants.</li>
<li>Encourage and promote gas and fire safety, as well as basic security and crime prevention awareness.</li>
<li>Distribute letters or leaflets within the patrol area when required.</li>
<li>Maintain a daily log and accurate records of patrols and resident interactions.</li>
</ul>
