<div><strong>Purpose of Role</strong></div>
<div><br>To provide student-facing support for the running of SUBU’s enquiries desk. This role will provide excellent customer service, signposting and general information about the services that SUBU provides.</div>
<div>In addition to providing customer service, the role will provide administrative support to the CEO, Head of Operations &amp; Governance and HR and Operations Lead when required. General office administration duties will also be required, such as overseeing equipment sign-outs and the postal system. The role will also provide support to SUBU’s team of student staff, including basic training and rota management.</div>
<div>This role requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the post holder liaising with students, staff and external contacts on a daily basis. A calm and empathetic approach is essential due to the often fast-paced nature of handling enquiries. Strong organisational skills are also important, along with the ability to retain information relating to SUBU’s services.</div>

<div><strong>Key Tasks</strong></div>
<ul>
<li>Communication: Deliver SUBU’s frontline service through face-to-face, telephone and email enquiries. Develop a basic understanding of SUBU’s services and use the information and resources provided to answer general enquiries, signpost students and refer more complex enquiries to the appropriate team.</li>
<li>Administration: Undertake email and diary management and provide ad hoc administrative support to the CEO, Head of Operations &amp; Governance and HR and Operations Lead, as well as providing support to the wider office.</li>
<li>Organisation: Ensure a professional and efficient service is provided and that a high level of customer service is maintained at all times. This includes maintaining equipment logs, managing the postal system and keeping office supplies stocked.</li>
<li>Advice and Guidance: Field enquiries and signpost or refer students to other services within SUBU and/or Bournemouth University.</li>
<li>Key Union Events: Support larger Union events such as Freshers’ Fayre, Summer Ball and Open Days.</li>
<li>Data &amp; Compliance: Ensure information is handled securely and in accordance with data protection requirements.</li>
<li>Engagement: Encourage student engagement, help ensure that the Union has a strong presence on campus and build positive relationships with students, including supporting student staff.</li>
<li>Sustainability: Carry out reception-related duties with consideration for sustainability, including minimising unnecessary printing and supporting sustainable office procurement.</li>

<li>Key Union Events: Proactively assist with the organisation and administration of Union events such as Freshers’ Fayre and Summer Ball.</li>

<li>Participate in training, meetings or conferences considered relevant to the role and agreed as part of a Personal Development Plan.</li>
<li>Carry out duties with full regard to the rules, policies, procedures and conditions of service contained in the Staff Handbook.</li>
